AUTHOR
Adania Shibli
Adania Shibli (1974) was born in Palestine. She holds a PhD from the University of East London and is the author of three novels originally published in Arabic. She lives and works between Berlin and Jerusalem.
After decades of colonisation, military occupation and the failed peace initiatives of the 1990s, a young woman and a young man are violently pushed further and further to the margins of society. No names, places or dates are given; only the changing seasons bear witness to lives being shattered and torn apart, and to dreams slowly slipping away.
In her razor-sharp, minimalist prose, Adania Shibli explores in Misleiding the constant threat of subjugation, arrest and dispossession, as well as the Israeli authorities’ relentless efforts to make Palestinians strangers in their own land.
