Here's a musician with a 20 year career and a discography list as long as your arm. Formerly in the band Pavement, Malkmus was the figure-head of the American indie rock scene of the nineties. Now his solo career is backed by the Portland band The Jicks. Their last release Real Emotional Trash was highly praised by Rolling Stone (4.5 stars) who rightly observed that "Malkmus hasn't taken the lyrics too seriously since Pavement broke up....All he wants to do is surrender to the lightheaded rush of the music, and the results are downright glorious.". At Crossing Border Malkmus will deliver a one-off solo performance of spoken word and music.
